“Serendipity”
The Magic Shake Machine
“Serendipity” is my endeavor to show music representationally, by capitalizing on my synesthetic input and an ingenues system known as the Magic Shake Machine. I collaborated to build this system that randomly selects three images, an aspect ration, and a piece of music. This Magic Shake Machine coupled with the color and texture sensation I receive from music is the spine of this series. Music has been the backbone of inspiration for my artistic career. I have loved and studied music since I was a small child, and it has predictably influenced my art, making itself the basis for my personal inspiration.
“Symphony No.7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Allegretto”
The second movement is rich, dark, deep, sturdy and peaceful. These sensations are expressed in deep blues, blacks, deep rich greens and velvety textures, to create an enveloping sense comfort. Over top of this plodding structure, there are light playful delicate twirling movements that are almost transparent as they dart all across the surface of the music. Delicate silvers and whites for the stars play all across the surface of the painting, indicating the soft playful lullaby reframe in the music. This mimics the high strings and winds that play through out the movement. In creating the composition for this piece, forms that looked like bird skulls began to appear in the rock. Hence the pieces nickname, Star eater. The skulls are now ancient beings that ate falling stars, and when these beings die, they turn to stone and all the stars escape streaming down in an unending cascaded of light.
